Further to our update on February 23, 2022, we wish to inform that the “Trademark Agent Training Course” offered by Myanmar IPD has already been concluded. Our local associate has attended the training and there is some information we wish to share. The training was to explain and prep the trademark agents to correctly complete the filing forms, to assure the application data is acceptable, and to submit the applications along with attachments on the e-filing system, and mainly focused on WIPO FILE User Manual which could be found on Myanmar IPD’s website https://www.ipd.gov.mm/trademark/trademark-1/e-servicers-trademark/tm-e-filing.
As far as we know, the expected time of the grand opening date will be within this year, 2022. However, the exact date is still unknown. The official fees will be announced one or two months before the grand opening date. Nevertheless, until now, the related Rules and Regulations have not been issued.
In this aspect, we urge all the clients interested in trademark right prosecution under Myanmar new trademark law to have their applications filed as soon as possible, during the soft opening, if it has not been done so. Please be sure to allow some delay due to the pandemic as well.
